Undergraduate Program Assessment
ASSESSMENT PLAN
- Student Input in Assessment
- The ADVS Department implements the university policy of having every course
evaluated by the students enrolled each time it is offered. Evaluations are reviewed
by the ADVS Department Head and faculty annually to maintain the highest level
of instructional competence.
- The ADVS Department conducts an exit survey of graduating students. The results
are reviewed regularly by the ADVS Department Head and the ADVS Department
Curriculum Committee.
- In conjunction with periodic general reviews of the ADVS Department
undergraduate curriculum at approximately five-year intervals, the ADVS
Department conducts surveys of students who have graduated since the previous
review.
- Curriculum Assessment
- The ADVS Department Curriculum Committee makes recommendations and seeks
input from ADVS faculty and students on a regular basis regarding undergraduate
programs in the department. This involves monitoring of comparable programs
offered by peer institutions and liaisons with other departments at USU that offer
coursework integral to the ADVS Department undergraduate curricula. Curricula
are adjusted as needed to meet the skills and training required by academia and
industry.
- In addition to the adjustments based on ongoing assessment, the ADVS Department
Curriculum Committee undertakes a comprehensive review of the ADVS
undergraduate programs at approximately five-year intervals. These reviews include
extensive surveys of current students, alumni, and employers of ADVS graduates,
as well as reviews of comparable programs at peer institutions.
- Student Performance Assessment
- The success rate of graduates from ADVS Department undergraduate programs in
career placement and admission to advanced programs of study is closely monitored.
The goal of the ADVS undergraduate programs is to prepare students to be
competitive for successful placement in appropriate post-graduate programs or career
positions related to their field of study upon completion of their undergraduate
programs in the ADVS Department.
