Animal Physiology Building1400 North 800 East (435) 797-3970
This facility was completed during the mid 1960s and consists of two floors. The upper floor is used primarily for the meat service program. Students are taught the fundamentals of animal slaughter techniques and live animal and carcass evaluation. The abattoir facilitates research involving grading and carcass evaluation. The lower floor contains laboratories for research on animal chromosomes, in vitro fertilization of cattle, sheep and horse oocytes, culture and manipulation of domestic animal preimplantation embryos and the sheep neurologic disease, Scrapie. Equipment includes incubators, laminar flow hoods, microscopes with micromanipulators, ultra centrifuge, embryo freezers, electrophoresis units and various other equipment common to a research laboratory. |
