UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM ASSESSMENT


 

Mission Statement 

 

  1. The ADVS Department is committed to developing and maintaining a highly competent faculty and facilities for comprehensive student instruction in undergraduate programs in Animal Science, Dairy Science, and Bioveterinary Science in the disciplines of reproductive biology, breeding and genetics, animal nutrition, biotechnology, animal health, equine studies, and bioveterinary science. In addition, the ADVS Department provides a one-year applied technology program in Dairy Science.
  2. The ADVS Department provides highly competent individual student counseling related to academic programs and development of career opportunities in all areas of animal agriculture, including preparation for professional training in veterinary medicine.
  3. The ADVS Department provides classroom, laboratory and field learning experiences which incorporate the latest scientific principles and the application of these principles.
  4. As an academic unit within a research university, the ADVS Department provides leadership in developing and applying new knowledge in the disciplines of its competency by faculty that are engaged in research, teaching and extension.

Primary responsibility for undergraduate program assessment is delegated to the ADVS Department Curriculum Committee. The Curriculum Committee consists of a chairperson and six other faculty members appointed by the Department Head. The faculty members chosen to serve on the Curriculum Committee all have a significant level of involvement in undergraduate instruction and are drawn from across the emphases within the ADVS Department undergraduate programs.
