National Committees:
  • Member, Aquaculture Committee, American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians.


  • Chair, Subcommittee on Aquatic Laboratory Accrediation, Aquaculture Committee, American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians. In 1998, the subcommittee developed guidelines for the inclusion of aquatic sections within accreditation reviews of veterinary diagnostic laboratories.

  • Member, Aquaculture Commodity Working Group, National Animal Health Reporting System Committee, United States Animal Health Association (USAHA). This committee is responsible to define diseases of aquatic animals that are reportable and develop a national reporting plan.

  • Member, Working Group on Aquaculture, Subcommittee on Veterinary Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing, National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards (NCCLS).

  • Member, Whirling Disease Standard Protocols Committee.

  • Responsible for the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology slide collection and continued participation in the conference, 1995 - 2001. This requires annual submission of two cases, distribution of tissue sections and relevant photographs received as part of the weekly conferences to interested faculty and students, and maintenance of archived slides.

  • Advisor to veterinary medical students interested in aquatic animal medicine. This involves reviewing and approving/disapproving student attendance at aquatic short courses and senior student externships, 1993-2001.

  • Advisor, Student Chapter of the International Association of Aquatic Animal medicine, 1993-2001.
